Traditional learning methods in Indian private elementary schools often rely on rote memorization and static content, leading to disengagement and limited knowledge retention. Students crave a more interactive and personalized learning experience.
Bloom utilizes AI to personalize learning paths, create engaging activities, and foster a dynamic classroom environment. This empowers teachers, enhances communication with parents, and most importantly, ignites a love of learning in young minds.

Also referred to as 'iPad babies' or 'screenagers'. They are shaping up to be pretty transformative successors.
The highest population of Gen Alpha was recorded in India until March 2024, hence making
India my demographic.

Some identified traits of this generation are:
Tech Savvy, Adaptable, Diverse, Inclusive, Educationally Focused and Global Citizens.

Along with this they also demonstrate a remarkable aptitude for technology and environmental consciousness.

UNDERSTANDING THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IN INDIA

Indian private elementary schools are facing the challenge of engaging and effectively educating a new generation of learners: Gen Alpha (ages 5-10). Growing up surrounded by technology, these “screenagers” have different learning preferences compared to previous generations. While traditional methods hold merit, they might not fully capture the attention and optimize learning for all students in this age group.

But, what does the existing market look like?

Edutech, short for educational technology, refers to the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning. It encompasses a wide range of tools, platforms, and approaches that aim to improve the educational experience for students of all ages.

STUDYING & ANALYSING THE CURRENT MARKET

AREA OF INTERVENTION

💡 The market is dominated by test preparation-focused platforms, particularly for higher grade levels.

💡 Content quality and interactivity emerge as key differentiators, with platforms like Byju's and Vidyakul emphasizing high-quality animation and live classes, respectively.

💡 A gap exists for tools that build strong core subject foundations, especially for students in Kindergarten to Grade 5.

💡 There's an opportunity to develop tools that incorporate gamification or cater to diverse learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic).

💡 These platforms primarily focus on pre-made content. There is a lack of flexibility in allowing teachers to create and share their own content within the platform.

To understand the current edutech market in India from a user's perspective, I conducted in-depth interviews with students, teachers, and parents. Their insights and candid feedback proved invaluable. This research allowed me to pinpoint areas for improvement and identify the key challenges that needed to be addressed while designing a new module for the primary education system in India.

Since I was in the development phase, this testing involved 5 students, 5 parents, and 10 teachers who had previously participated in our survey. Here's a sample result for Wizard of Oz testing of Bloom:

DigiLab is equipped with cutting-edge hardware and software, allowing students to explore various digital tools like robotics kits, coding platforms, virtual reality experiences, and design software.

DigiLab offers a curated assortment of interactive lessons, simulations, and games that make learning fun and engaging. These activities cater to diverse learning styles and provide students with opportunities to experiment, solve problems, and apply their knowledge in digital contexts.

This project highlighted the importance of user research. I identified specific challenges faced by teachers in Indian elementary schools like large class sizes, outdated tech, resource management parents' limited engagement, and knowledge retention. This demonstrates my ability to design solutions based on user needs and context.

I observed the current educational landscape which presents challenges like large class sizes (45-50 students) limited individual attention, traditional blackboards, separate projector screens that feel outdated, and computer labs that are crowded with inconsistent content. Teachers struggle to find and share resources efficiently, leading to wasted time and disruptions. While some students are engaged, knowledge retention seems uneven, and there's no system to record or revisit learning from edtech tools.
Bloom aims to address these issues by creating a more personalized and engaging learning environment.

This caters to various learning styles and physical abilities. Additionally, Bloom adheres to strict data security measures to keep user information safe and secure.

DigiLab is more than just a technology upgrade; it's an investment in the future of education. By providing students with the tools and skills they need to succeed in the digital age, DigiLab empowers schools to prepare their students for a bright future.
